Day Fourteen
Leaving Las Vegas
For the culmination of our Southwest tour, many ideas were debated. We had driven over 3,500 miles over 13 straight days, so a day of relaxation was much needed. Lounging at the Caesars Palace pool is pretty, pretty, sweet. There are many comfortable chaise lounges and servers bringing drink orders promptly.
I could only take a few hours in the Vegas sun, so we ventured across the street to a row of restaurants next to the LINQ Hotel. There were many choices but I settled on Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips. It was fast and delicious and quickly satisfied my hunger.
Heading back to McCarren Airport we dropped off our truck and boarded a plane back to New York. I can say I might have done a few things differently. A word of advice is to make plans and reservations in advance if you can, but some of the best parts of the trip were the spontaneous ones and the ones that became memories that I’ll treasure the rest of my life.
Dining: Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips
Airport: Las Vegas Prison food is better
Airport: Phoenix School lunches are better
Car Rental: Avis "Preferred Customer" 2 weeks of GMC Yukon only $1400 with unlimited miles. Gas for this trip around $550 with no tolls in the southwest.
Must Have Apps: Hotels.com, Gas Buddy, and Waze for the hidden police cars looking for speeders. Yelp and Google for restaurant ratings and to verify if places are open.
